Come out to Remic Rapids to join City Councillors Jeff Leiper and Catherine McKenney at a fun, family-friendly event for beginner anglers!
Want to learn more about shore fishing on the Ottawa River? Want to celebrate license-free fishing week in Ontario? Want to interact with the river and its ecosystem? This event is for you!
Living in the urban core, we often don’t enjoy and appreciate the river enough. This event aims to help residents both new and established connect with the river in a fun and meaningful way while raising awareness about the need to protect the Ottawa River Watershed. We warmly welcome participants of all levels of experience to come out and take part! Fishing gear will be available for use, as will life jackets of all sizes for those desiring them. Lifeguards will be on-site to ensure the safety of all participants.
We acknowledge that this event is being held on the unceded and unsurrendered territory of Algonquin Anishinabeg people. We thank the members of the Algonquin nation for making it possible for us to engage with the Kichesippi (Ottawa River) in this way, and we appreciate their continued efforts to support and protect the Kichesippi.
We also want to extend a special thank you to the National Capital Commission for supporting us in the organization of this event.
Please note as this event occurs during License Free Fishing Week, there is no rain date. The event will occur if weather and water levels permit.
