Valens Lake Conservation Area is gearing up for our Annual Ice Fishing Derby. It takes place on Saturday February 16, 2019. This event attracts over 150 anglers across the tri-region areas of Hamilton, Halton and Waterloo as they vie for their chance in catching the Big One!
There will be youth and adult competition boards and will rank the top 3 largest pan fish; species include: Yellow Perch, Blue Gill, Black Crappie and Pumpkinseed.
There is a cost to this event, Adult $25 and Youth 12 years of age and under $15 to enter the derby, park entrance is included with the ticket purchase.
In the spirit of conservation, the ice fishing derby is strictly catch and release promoting a sustainable fishery for years to come. The scales open 6am – 1pm. Participants who were unable to land a fish still have the opportunity to win door prizes.
