Valens Lake Conservation Area is gearing up for our Annual John Burns Memorial Fishing Derby. It takes place on Saturday July 08, 2017. This event attracts over 250 anglers across the tri-region areas of Hamilton, Halton and Waterloo as they vie for their chance in catching the Big One!

In the spirit of conservation, the fishing derby is strictly catch and release promoting a sustainable fishery for years to come. The weigh scales open from sunrise and closes at 2pm. We have categories for both adult and youth anglers. Prizes and bragging rights are awarded to the top 3 finishers in each category. Participants who were unable to land a qualifying fish still have the opportunity to win door prizes.
